Stadsschouwburg – Amsterdam
Stadsschouwburg, Amsterdam
Wayfinding system
—
The Stadsschouwburg is a municipal theater located in the center of Amsterdam. During its last renovation, the theater with its classic atmosphere, red carpets and gold decorations faced two major changes. First, a new modern and minimalistic building with a second theater hall was added. Second, a new restaurant took over the former entrance hall. Due to these aspects, the symmetrical layout of the classic building dissolved making it difficult for the visitors to navigate through the building to the variety of foyers, terraces and sections of the auditorium. Therefore, the new wayfinding system reorganizes the flow of visitors and also visually connects both styles of architecture.
